The Volvo Ocean Race – the leading round-the-world sailing race for teams, sailing's biggest offshore race and one of the most coveted prizes in the sport. It lasts for nearly nine months and it’s the longest sport event in the world.

The 12th edition of the Volvo Ocean Race will start from Alicante, Spain on October 4, 2014 and finishes in Gothenburg, Sweden with a final in-port race on June 27, 2015. The seven teams will visit 11 ports and cover 38,739 nautical miles from Cape Town to Abu Dhabi, Sanya, Auckland, Itajaí, Newport, Lisbon, Lorient, The Hague and finally, Sweden.
